@fiore i think my install might be fucked but steam and things that interact with steam (but not the games directly) crash constantly and it pisses me off
i can't find anyone else who has the same issues
i really don't wanna leave arch though

reply guy here. You probably tried looking at these already but my guesses just in case:

steam needs some outdated library that arch has updated from libsomething.so.2 to libsomething.so.3 in the default package you have installed (but others have the old version bcs of something else pulling it in)
steam builtin web browser is being a little bitch again, if you have multiple GPUs try playing with steam safe mode or prime-run/switcheroo stuff when launching it. i think there is also a hacky way to launch steam without starting it (which is why launching games might work)
maybe just reinstalling steam will help? no need to jump distros
maybe you had steam installed from some flatpak or some custom outdated AUR package so pacman isn't tracking the newest needed dependenciesif i had to make bets, i'd say it's the web helper (i've had issues with it in the past to the point of entire steam client crash-restarting, but i can offer no solution)

@eris @fiore i'm using a single gpu (Radeon RX 6950 XT), i've reinstalled steam once or twice and it only happens on this computer and this issue has been happening for over a year
