helped a friend of mine setup their own matrix server today :]

This is NOT your invitation to shittalk matrix or recommend something else. We already did it and this was probably the best option given their usecase after evaluating xmpp, irc+mumble and fluxer.

@alexia matrix is a lot better now but i still can't find a good desktop client that supports livekit calls/channels and screen sharing on linux

@pancakes @alexia just use the electron wrapper, totally makes it a real app (this is a hate post towards electron apps, not towards the idea of wanting real apps on your system)

@pancakes well you didn't say they couldn't be in a webview!! regardless, commet might do it. will run like ass on linux thanks to google/flutter though.
