allows you to review, update, and merge commits in a "pr" individually instead of in one go. allowing for stiuations like "commits A-C are good, merged. please change D and resubmit it" instead of delaying the whole PR
it looks like this:

yeah, but each "pr" is a single commit. a bit weird when you're coming from github-like stuff
