@julia as someone who uses it, I'm not sure
I mean it/its is one of the 7 main pronouns in English but I don't know if that's what the distinction is

@pancakes @julia “neopronoun” is used to describe pronouns that don’t benefit from societal acceptance as legitimate things to call other humans

so like nobody would think it’s weird to use he/him (the argument the transphobe is that it’s incorrect/harmful, not that the word itself is invalid)

whereas neopronouns have no such acceptance and result in backlash just for using them on a person
