the issue with "encrypted email" is that there's no interop, which means that in a practical sense none of your emails are encrypted in transit. the only thing providers like tuta and proton provide is encryption at rest, which is not so valuable when the NSA has active programs that monitor all email traffic in the united states (and in many other places!)
in other words, if you want something sent via email to be secure, use PGP yourself or put the secure content on a dedicated platform
oh, and both tuta's and proton's clients suck

encrypted email is not worth it, encrypted email has never been worth it, it's the same exact misleading marketing strategy that nordvpn has using for years
it will not secure you from hackers, it will not protect you from government surveillance, it is simply security theater. at least nordvpn is useful to bypass national firewalls
if you want an independent email provider that doesn't lie to you, check out migadu

migadu also refuses investments and nazis. compare this to proton, who have taken venture capital money and recently praised trump. migadu also supports normal email client protocols, which makes it trivial to use a desktop client or export your data. proton requires a $5/month bridge to use an alternate client, though at least they have a cli program for exporting. tuta has no plans to implement a bridge, meaning there is no way to use anything other than their shitty electron-based client. migadu also won't delete your account if you're inactive too long
