@pancakes it’s so cool. so basically most bluesky accounts and also at proto user repos have their did hosted on plc.directory using did:plc the thing run by bluesky. (plc stands for “placeholder” but it stuck). this is just a permanent randomly generated id that lets you use it as an anchor to point to your account on any pds, for migration purposes. really cool! there’s an FEP to use did:web for fedi but anyway. so most just use did:plc which is the default, BUT, since all that’s there is just some links to your pds and account, and a public key for signing, you can use did:web, which is just a .well-known/did.json file containing the same information, hosted on a domain of your choice.

@pancakes so basically my account isnt controlled by bluesky at all anymore, i have my own did and pds, so the only thing that is is the relay. and 3rd party relays are already coming up! i think bluesky has a very bright future
