OneShot: World Machine Edition is coming to PC with Steam Deck/Linux support can't wait for oneshot to be properly playable on Linux it has some changes from the original game because it was made for console but it looks good
@aa@pancakes i recompiled the game to work around crashes at the very end of it as well as the clover app. it ain't perfect but it works fine enough. some effects are broken on Wayland though.
@aa@pancakes but yeah the World Machine Edition is basically gonna be the way to play it on Steam Deck now since it'll work around all the issues with shitty libraries, the clover journal, and QDBus
@sterophonick@pancakes my opinion on WME is that it's neat and ill be buying it, but for anyone with a PC even on linux I'll still recommend the original game as WME just can't replicate it's "wow, that was neat" factor
@sterophonick@pancakes The film puzzle worked on the original linux port fine last i tried. all that was needed to fix it was deleting some libraries from the game directory
Light spoiler for OneShot@pancakes I saw the trailer for this this morning and I couldn’t stop thinking about “why”. I didn’t know the Linux port wasn’t “properly playable”, I played the game back when I was using Windows Some of the bonus features are nice I guess but I feel that doesn’t really make up for the loss of the meta elements and the surprise it brings with it Like if people only start playing World Machine Edition from now on, I fear the feeling of “OH THE GAME CHANGED MY REAL DESKTOP WALLPAPER” will be lost because if the desktop is simulated anyway the amount of control the game has over it isn’t as surprising to the player
